Rush Strong School

Paige James, RSS School Site Administrator

Students at the RSS and NMES SLC are using their reasoning and engineering skills to build sturdy houses for The Three Little Pigs. Each structure is tested and adjustments are made according to students' hypotheses.

Mt. Horeb Elementary School

MHES Summer School Highlight Image

Students at Mt. Horeb Elementary are engaged in a variety of hands on activities. 2nd graders are using team building to create a sturdy base for their imaginative masterpieces. 4th & 5th graders are learning how to weed a garden and the importance of growing their own food. PreK students are using shaving cream to write letters and numbers.


Jefferson Middle School and Maury Middle School

Highlight Image Collage

JMS and MMS student have been working on personal memoirs, speeches of famous failures, independent novels, and debatable research in ELA. Students have been working on ratio and unit rate concepts in math to develop a better understanding of proportional relationships. The students have enjoyed having recess developing social skills while letting their creativity shine. Summer Learning Camp has been great for students to build new relationship while fostering old ones. 

Jefferson Elementary School

JES Summer School Highlight Image

First and Second grade student at Jefferson Elementary School are learning about Newton First Law of Motion. They created and painted a race car. Then the students constructed a ramp using height, force, and motion. Finally, students tested the hypothesis that the height of ramp affects the distance and speed of their race car.

Dandridge Elementary School

Fourth and fifth grade students at Dandridge Elementary School use manipulatives to continue learning and deepen their understanding of Math concepts.


White Pine School

Mira Denton, WPS School Site Administrator

WPS Summer School Highlight Image

Third grade students at White Pine School read three stories: "Big Bugs, Searching for Trolls, and Ocean Art." Students analyze each text in partner pairs and annotate each story to deepen their understanding of the text. Students close out the unit by creating their own creative versions of the bugs, trolls, and jellyfish they studied!
