School Office Staff Now Available for Assistance

Annual Update Forms are available for returning students in the Aspen Family Portal. At this time you will need to use a desktop or laptop.
If you have already updated your student's information for the 2026-2027 school year, no further action is needed.
Parents will not be able to use a mobile device for annual update forms until July 27.

New Students

Parents or guardians of new students need to create an Aspen Family Portal account.

NOTE: If you currently have a student in Jefferson County Schools, you should have already created a Family Portal Account for Student Registration. If you have an enrolled student but did NOT create a Family Portal Account, please visit your child's School Attendance Clerk for assistance.

You should see the following confirmation.

You will then receive an email from Aspen-Sys Admin@myfollette.com

Open the email and click on the link to verify your email address (CIRCLED in YELLOW below) and activate your account.

Be aware that a link that a second line (RED X below) looks similar has an option to cancel the request.

You will then be redirected to the Aspen login landing page where you will be asked to enter your username and password.

Step 4: Login to New Aspen Account for Student Registration

Step 5: Initiate Registration

Click on the initiate button circled in blue below.

If you have to stop and continue the registration later after logging back in, click on the green action check mark to continue.

Once your registration is complete you will receive an email notifying you that your registration has been submitted. Next, contact the school to set up an appointment to complete the registration process.

Returning Students

These instructions for Existing Accounts in the Aspen Family Portal are for all families who previously created an account for any child enrolled in Jefferson County Schools.

Examples of Existing Accounts in JCS Aspen Family Portals:

Students enrolling for the first time in a Middle School but attended an Elementary School in Jefferson County.
Kindergarten students with older siblings who are enrolled in Jefferson County Schools.

Step 1: Login to Your Aspen Family Portal

Your Login ID is the full email address you provided when setting up the account.

If you do not remember this email address or your password, select the Trouble Logging in? link.

After entering your login credentials, you will be redirected to your Aspen Family portal homepage.

The Trouble Logging in? link will redirect to a site that will allow you to retrieve your Login ID or reset your password.

Step 2: Initiate Registration

I am completing returning student registration for my existing student(s).
I am adding a new student registration to my existing Family Portal

Next, select the option to Start a RETURNING STUDENT REGISTRATION (See image below). NOTE: This option will be available in annually mid to late July.

NOTE: Do Not choose the option to start a NEW Student Registration.

After starting a RETURNING STUDENT Registration, follow the prompts to complete all registration fields and questions.

If you have to stop and continue the registration later after logging back in, click on the green action check mark to continue.

Please direct any questions regarding accessing the Aspen Family Portal or back-to-school registration to the attendance secretary at your child's school. School staff will return in late July.

Account Access: Troubleshooting Support

Use the Trouble logging in? link on the Aspen Login Page if you do not remember your password.
If you are unable to access your account after requesting a Login ID retrieval or password reset, contact the Attendance Secretary at your child's school.
- Note that Attendance Secretaries do not work from June to late July. Summer registration questions may be sent to Registration@jcboe.net.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration

Pre-K Registration

Jefferson County offers free Pre-K programs at every elementary school. Your child may be eligible to attend.

Required Application Documentation:

Proof of Birth Date
Proof of Residency
Proof of Household Income (Earned and Unearned)
Tennessee Certificate of Immunization

Complete the Family Assistance Request Form or call the Family Resource Center at 865-397-4466 for additional information or to schedule an appointment.

Kindergarten Registration Screening Requirements

Jefferson County Schools Family Resource Center offers this free required screening throughout the school year. The screening needs to be completed prior to Kindergarten registration. Vision screenings are also offered, along with a speech/language evaluation, if needed. Referrals are made for further evaluations and early intervention.

This is a great way to get your child ready for Kindergarten!Tips and ideas for kindergarten readiness will be provided.

Kindergarten parent registration is offered throughout the county. Please contact your child's school for further information.

Free Developmental Screening

The Developmental Screening helps determine where your child is developmentally and will give you the opportunity to help your child be better prepared for Kindergarten.

The Screening measures the following developmental and pre-academic areas:

Personal data response
Color Recognition
Picture Vocabulary
Visual Discrimination- forms and uppercase letters
Visual motor skills
Gross motor skills
Rote counting
Identification of body parts
Follows verbal directions

When the screening is finished, the person screening your child will provide you with kindergarten readiness information. If your child has difficulty in a particular area(s) you will be given information and activities you can do at home to help prepare your child for school. If your child needs further evaluation to determine if services are needed, we will help you by making a referral or providing information on where you can go for help. It is important that you spend time working with your child everyday. Working with your child will promote development in the skill areas that will ensure readiness for kindergarten. Parents are their child's first teacher and your efforts are very important in helping your child be ready for school!
